Closing Out The Year | December in an Instagram

 photo December_zps717ce6e0.png

December was a great month!  Lots of times with friends and family and traveling to Idaho and back.  December was also a time of reflection mixed with looking forward as I closed out 2013 and started planning 2014.  It was a month of ups and downs emotionally, but luckily it always ended on the upswing as I looked to each situation as a moment for growth.

I spent a bit of time decorating my apartment and being intentional with some furniture additions.  It was entirely new for me since I've lived the past 10 years as minimalistic as possible.  I like being minimalist, and still strive to live simply and at my means, but I'm enjoying nesting in my home.  Previous to this apartment the longest I lived in one place was 9 months.  I've been in my current home for 18 months with no plans to move.  It's a lovely feeling to be happy with my home.

As I move into 2014, I'm excited to continue being intentional with my relationships, health, and finances.  There's some huge additions to my professional life that I'm really looking forward to developing, and enjoying the growing pains that I've experienced.

Cheers to a wonderful December and moving forward!

November 2013 in an Instagram

 photo nov13_zps47201632.png

How is it December already?!
I mean seriously.

November was an event filled month!  It started off with my first ever art show (a month-long gallery even!) and ended surrounded by family for the Thanksgiving holiday!

Here's some of the highlights:
  • My art show in Newberg
  • Girls Road Trip to surprise my family over my niece's bday weekend
  • Danielle and Joie visiting Portland
  • New glasses
  • Spending 4 days with my whole family over Thanksgiving
  • Finding out the family is growing!

Did you see family over the holiday? How was your November?
Here's to a great December!

September in an Instagram

It's been a LONG time since I've recapped my months with Instagram photos!  In an effort to document my 31st year better, I'm going to start including these little recaps again.  It's always fun to look back on the month and see what's happened in my daily life through these little square photos.  I've also been considering offering a linky party once a month, so I may just have to combine the two!
Stay tuned ;)

Without further ado, here's my September 2013 in an Instagram...

How's your summer so far?  Any fun plans coming up?

6.19.2013

Currently I Am...

WORKING on a few projects.  I've recently discovered todoist and have loved the ability to keep an up to date to do list that syncs with both my computer and phone.  I've felt so much more productive and on track with all my many irons in the fire!

ENJOYING summer!!  The Kid started his summer vacay this week and I've enjoyed spending the days being longer and warmer.

EXPERIENCING a shift in attitude and behavior.  I've had a few recent reminders of my intentions and to stick with the paths that will lead me where I want to be while allowing everything else to fall away as necessary.  It's not the most comfortable and some of the decisions have been difficult, but I feel like I'm making the right ones.

PLANNING a few vacations for July.  The Kid is going to be at summer camp for the first 3 weeks of the month and that means vacation time for me!  Stay tuned for some fun plans that will take me to central Oregon, Northern California and possibly Palm Springs!

And here's an update via instagram for what's been happening lately:

I drove to the middle of nowhere (aka Condon, OR) to see my brother, sister-in-law and niece
who were in town to run the Tough Mudder.  It was so good to see them again!

I've discovered that the wet climate is prime for mold growing in the bathroom.
I rolled up my sleeves, dug in and sent it packing!

Father's Day was last weekend and I helped the kids with a few projects for their dad.
It was a fun day of sneaking around and surprising him a few times.

Me | The Paper Mama's Self Portrait Challenge

The Paper Mama is having a self portrait contest where a participant will win an Instax mini 8 camera!  I love challenges and thought I'd play along!  This contest isn't based on photo quality, it's completely random, so I decided to post a picture of me from Saturday night that I snapped after getting ready for an all-girls Valentines party (recap post to come!).

So here I am, plus 10 random facts about me...

Photobucket

  1. I am 30 years old, but most days I feel 16.
  2. I don't have any kids, but I've nannied, babysat and worked with youth organizations since I was 12... so in my heart I've had many children and love them all as my own.
  3. My niece is the number 1 person on this planet that I would do anything for.  There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about and pray for her.  I can't wait to see her turn this world on its edge as she accomplishes many a great thing.
  4. I have completed a full marathon, a few halves, a century bike ride, hiked the Grand Canyon and want to train for a triathlon next.
  5. I had no idea how easy it was to love until I let my guard down.  It is the scariest thing in the world, and completely worth it.
  6. I could go the rest of my life without ever having another beer, cocktail or glass of wine, but take away my coffee and I just might kill you.
  7. Although not the most attractive ensemble in the world, I could wear yoga pants and a hoodie every day.  Most comfortable outfit ever.
  8. I was born in Southern Washington and raised on a chicken farm until the age of 12.  My family then moved to Idaho where we owned a dairy heifer ranch.  My family still lives in Idaho, but I moved back to Portland this past summer.  I miss them very much, but for many reasons, it was the best leap of faith I have ever taken.
  9. Having been raised a farm kid, I know the meaning of hard work, and do not take it for granted.
  10. I am a photographer and am blessed to see light and shadow and love everywhere.

My Day in iPhonography

Photobucket

  • Snuggled with the sweetest dog ever, and I officially want one. I've toyed with the idea of getting a dog for a few years now, but gotten more serious in my planning lately.  The apartment I'm in now doesn't allow pets, so this would mean moving... again.  But I like change, and truly enjoy moving, so that's not a problem for me.  Now I get the fun of looking at different neighborhoods and locations and deciding which area is right for me.  I'm seriously entertaining the idea of roommates again too... ask me how I feel about that next week though.
  • Made a quick run to my new favorite coffeehouse while The Kid had his tuba lessons.  It's conveniently located just 4 blocks from where his instructor lives, so it was a lovely way to spend the afternoon.
  • The Kid has now decided he is a teenager and therefore runs on his own timeline.  As gently and lovingly as possible I am making him aware of his attitude and keeping him running on the most efficient timeline.  Today he decided that ignoring me was his way of telling me he didn't want to start on his homework.  I gently reminded him that ignoring me was a lack of respect and therefore he no longer had a say in how his time looked.  Worked like a charm.  He hopped up and started in.  I love this kid.
