How's your summer so far?  Any fun plans coming up?

6.19.2013

Currently I Am...

WORKING on a few projects.  I've recently discovered todoist and have loved the ability to keep an up to date to do list that syncs with both my computer and phone.  I've felt so much more productive and on track with all my many irons in the fire!

ENJOYING summer!!  The Kid started his summer vacay this week and I've enjoyed spending the days being longer and warmer.

EXPERIENCING a shift in attitude and behavior.  I've had a few recent reminders of my intentions and to stick with the paths that will lead me where I want to be while allowing everything else to fall away as necessary.  It's not the most comfortable and some of the decisions have been difficult, but I feel like I'm making the right ones.

PLANNING a few vacations for July.  The Kid is going to be at summer camp for the first 3 weeks of the month and that means vacation time for me!  Stay tuned for some fun plans that will take me to central Oregon, Northern California and possibly Palm Springs!

And here's an update via instagram for what's been happening lately:

I drove to the middle of nowhere (aka Condon, OR) to see my brother, sister-in-law and niece
who were in town to run the Tough Mudder.  It was so good to see them again!

I've discovered that the wet climate is prime for mold growing in the bathroom.
I rolled up my sleeves, dug in and sent it packing!

Father's Day was last weekend and I helped the kids with a few projects for their dad.
It was a fun day of sneaking around and surprising him a few times.

Yesterday I introduced The Kid to "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" and discovered
that with my new glasses Rick Moranis is my doppleganger.  Ewww.

What have you been up to?  Anything exciting going on these days?

Curvy Girl Fashion Friday | The 'I'm running late for everything' Edition

Ever have one of those days where you wake up already running late for something?  I'm having one of those today.  I woke up, already feeling rushed and behind.  The plan was to head to Vancouver where I had an appointment for a massage, then meet a friend for lunch and to return a few camera items, then head to Condon, OR to meet up with my brother, sister-in-law and niece (my brother is running the Tough Mudder tomorrow and I'm spectating).

So I hurried through my morning routine to get back on track and headed North.

I got about halfway to Vancouver before realizing that I forgot everything I needed for the weekend sitting next to my front door in a neat little pile.

*face palm*

So now I'm back in my apartment since I had to drive all the way home after lunch to get everything before driving to Condon, and I figured I'd take a minute to post my Curvy Girl Fashion Friday picture. (don't judge me, yes I'm still running late, but blogging relaxes me.)

Shirt - Old Navy
Tank - Target
Capris - Maurices

So a few things happened this week.  First, I got a new haircut.  It's shorter (much shorter) than I had envisioned, but it's growing on me (ha, get it?!  growing) and my hair grows so fast that in a few weeks I'll want it cut again, so I'm not too worried about it.

I also got a new pair of glasses!  Remember when I mentioned that I was visiting the Warby Parker bus last week?  Well my new frames showed up yesterday!  What do you think?

Our Sports Filled Weekend

This past weekend was spent mostly in the great outdoors and beautiful sunshine!

We started off with a soccer filled Saturday watching Lil' Man's game where he scored his second goal of the season and warded off many shots from the other team as goalie.  He's really grown as a player in a short time, and I'm loving watching him enjoy the sport!

Then on Sunday I had my first softball game of the season!  It was a lot of fun to be out on the field again, but I definitely felt my age and added weight over the years since I last played.  Hopefully I'll loosen up and get back in the groove before my short season is over!

During the game The Guy spent time explaining the rules of baseball to Lil' Man and Lil' Lady.  They haven't been exposed much to the game and they both enjoyed watching.  Afterward Lil' Man declared that he'd like to play next year and my heart soared!  The Guy told him that if he's serious about playing we'd go by a Goodwill and find him a glove and bat.  So that's exactly what we did!

We ended up playing for hours at a high school field and I was in heaven teaching both kids how to hit and field the ball.  I'm so proud of how quickly they both picked it up!  That night Lil' Man even asked if he could sleep with his new bat.  How cute is that?!

The Hills Are Alive | Hood River Hiking Adventure

One of my goals for 2013 was to get out and hike the Gorge more.  So over the past few months I've been preparing by purchasing this Keen hiking boot (only I got mine at REI), the Curious Gorge book (AMAZING!!) and most recently this awesome Deuter ACT Lite 40 + 10 Pack.

This past weekend I was itching to get out on a trail and when I came across a small article in the June issue of Portland Monthly naming "Hood River Mountain" as the trail of the month, I knew I had found my destination.  The description talks about hiking through fields of wildflowers and amazing views of Hood River and Mt. Hood.  There were fewer flowers than expected for this time of year (I think our sudo-summer at the beginning of May had something to do with that) but the views definitely did not disappoint!
